Setting up a single mother study group

January 12, 2012

Higher education is steadily becoming more available to students from all walks of life. Thankfully, you've probably already received help in the form of single mother scholarships, which are dedicated to making it possible for anyone who is motivated to get a degree make their dreams come true.

As a single parent, you are likely well aware of the value of having a supportive community that you can rely on in times of need. Now that you're planning on going back to school, bonding with a core group of classmates can help you manage your workload while raising your kids.

Whether you attend classes on campus or pursue an online degree, you can coordinate a study group with your peers, especially those who are parents as well.

Consider making a Facebook group so you can set up events that everyone can join. You can meet at a different member's house on a rotating basis or choose one neutral location (like a library or coffeeshop) that you go to every week.

If it's more convenient for the group members to communicate online so they can stay home and watch their kids, you could set up a Skype account or a group chat through an email platform.
