Parents in college can avoid holiday stress by shopping early

November 8, 2011

The in-store displays signal shoppers that the holiday season is just around the corner. For mothers who are pursuing a college education, the fact that Christmas and Hanukkah are less than two months away means that now is the time to get started on holiday shopping, as the end of the semester - and final exams - occur just before the holiday break.

Shopping early will help reduce additional stress when studying for finals should be the main concern. In addition, starting before many others do helps to ensure the best selection and deals. After all, regardless of whether or not moms have college scholarships or other financial aid, keeping spending in check is often necessary when in school.

Another tip for those who know they'll be busy closer to the holidays is to get holiday cards ready early and wrap gifts as soon as they're purchased. Decorating the house or apartment ahead of time can also reduce stress later on, as well as help the entire family get into the holiday spirit sooner rather than later.

While finals often represent a difficult time for all students, mothers who want to ensure they make the holidays memorable for their families can do so with a little early preparation!
