Moms say time is precious

May 24, 2012

As a mom, you've probably remarked how 24 hours each day just isn't long enough for you to fulfill all of your responsibilities. For instance, the following phrase, or one similar to it, may have actually been spoken by you or someone you know: "I can't possibly get the laundry done, wash the kitchen floor, clean the bathroom, do the grocery shopping, go to class, study, care for and entertain my children and bring the car for an oil change today. There's just not enough time in the day!"

Now, a new survey of more than 2,000 working moms in Canada reveals that many women would actually give up the breakfast in bed, handmade cards and gifts and general pampering their families do for them on Mothers' Day in order to have more time every day.

The poll, conducted by Linden Bay Wine, revealed that more than 80 percent of women say having more time each day would be the ideal Mothers' Day gift.

While there's no denying the fact that balancing motherhood and school (or a career) can be a challenge, experts say the time and effort is likely to pay off in the end.

Moms who pursue a college degree increase their earning potential and job marketability as well as set a great example for the importance of education for their children. Most importantly, going to school helps many women realize their dream of becoming a college graduate.

Luckily, those who want to embark on the challenge of getting a degree can depend on grants for parents, scholarships for mothers, single mother scholarships and other financial aid to make going to college more affordable.
