Incorporate family time into your busy college schedule

October 3, 2011

As a mother who's heading to college, you may be dealing with the fear of missing out on a significant moment in your child's life or growing apart when you're in the midst of a busy schedule. Family is the most important part of your life, and you can schedule time to be there for your child.

After you've completed research for college scholarships and grants and finally get on campus, the amazing flexibility of higher education could work to your advantage. You can very easily plan most of your classes for early in the day when your child is at school or take one or two per week in the evenings.

You can set aside one or two nights a week that can be totally committed to spending time with your family. Children love planned activities, and you can show them that you're still playing an active part in their lives by making this time just about them.

Balancing a degree program and family obligations can be difficult, but the flexibility of a college schedule will give you the leeway to pursue your passion and be the best mother possible.
