How to be a happier mom

January 3, 2012

No one said being a mom is easy. In fact, most people say that motherhood is the hardest job they've ever had or ever will have.

Parenting magazine reports on a recent University of Michigan study that found that many mothers rank taking care of their children lower on their list of pleasurable activities than eating, exercising or watching television.

"Moment to moment, you may be exhausted, frustrated, sometimes angry," University of Michigan professor Dr. Peter Ubel told the publication.

Experts say having these feelings does not mean you don't love your child. Instead, it simply highlights the fact that being a mom is so difficult.

Parenting.com suggests moms can improve their feelings of happiness by valuing what you do and finding ways to make parenting more enjoyable.

While some people are truly happy as stay-at-home moms, others need the adult interaction and mental stimulation a job outside the home provides in order to be the best mom they possibly can.

Those who want to go to college to pursue their dreams can help pay for it through various college scholarships, grants for parents and other financial aid.
