Convincing your children to help out around the house

August 27, 2012

Once you take advantage of scholarships for moms and grants for parents to enroll in a postsecondary institution, you won't have as much free time to take care of upkeeping around the house. That being said, you might need a little help from your kids with the chores - but how do you convince them to assist you?

No child wants to spend time dusting or vacuuming when he or she could be playing video games. That being said, there are a few ways you can convince your kids to lend you a helping hand as you work toward your degree.

MSNBC.com recommends explaining to your children the importance of doing chores when it comes to saving time. Consider giving your kids watches and showing them how quickly chores can be done and how much time they can conserve in the future by eliminating clutter.

If you have little ones at home, OrganizedHome.com suggests starting small to get them into the habit of helping out. Ask your kids to complete minimal chores throughout the day to help them understand that it's a part of the daily routine - not just a nagging task that needs to be completed.
