Your multi-tasking skills have prepared you for the rigors of a degree program

August 25, 2011

As a mother, you probably have developed the ability to cook dinner, do the laundry, talk on the phone and watch your children at the same time. With this in mind, what makes you think that you can't apply this facility to your schoolwork. If you've been mulling over the prospect of going back to get your degree, know that you already have a unique set of skills that are perfect for the road ahead.

The first step that will show you whether or not you're cut out for college life is the scholarship process. Writing countless college scholarship application essays and setting aside the time to research grants that pertain to your degree program is excellent practice for balancing an education and taking care of your children.

When you do get into college, you can take the lessons you've learned from the college scholarship process and apply them to your coursework. Additionally, you don't have to do everything at once - take as many credits as you can handle so you can have equal time to balance a degree program and supporting your children.
