Taking advantage of every moment to get ahead in your degree program

October 11, 2011

If you're a mother who's thinking of heading to college to pursue a degree program, balancing your obligations to your children and completing all your necessary coursework may seem daunting. The next few years will certainly be harrowing, but finding free time at unexpected moments can help you get ahead.

When you are assigned reading for one of your classes, this is something you should always have in the car or in your bag. Whether you're waiting for the kids to get out of an after school activity or if your plans change unexpectedly, having your assignment on hand can help you put a dent in your schoolwork.

The flexibility of a college schedule can also help you plan your classes around your children's schedules. During the academic year, you can do most of your courses during the morning and be there in time to pick them up from school and give them a home-cooked meal.

After you've looked into college scholarships and grants, balancing motherhood and college is possible when you plan ahead and take advantage of any free time that may fall into your lap.
