Studies find busy moms are happiest

November 4, 2011

As any mother can attest, you're darned if you do, you're darned if you don't. This saying is especially true for moms who choose to go back to school and pursue a college education.

Sometimes it may feel like it doesn't matter that you're making a whole host of sacrifices to improve your happiness and your life, as well as those of your children. Some people will say that doing something so time-consuming for yourself is selfish.

But there are several scientific facts that mothers can offer to all of those naysayers. According to the website FamilyEducation.com, studies have revealed that the happiest women are the busiest women. In addition, moms who are the most "harried" usually don't have a negative feeling about motherhood.

The website also makes the case for any parent who wants to pursue her dreams by citing a study that found that kids are happiest when their mothers are.

"More important to a child's overall sense of happiness is whether or not her mother is happy and satisfied with her lifestyle, whether this meant she stayed at home or worked," according to FamilyEducation.com.

Most things that are worth pursuing aren't easy, and going back to school during parenthood isn't either. However, moms can lower their financial stress level by applying for scholarships for mothers and researching other financial aid options for parents.
