Don’t underestimate the networking capabilities of earning your degree

August 30, 2011

While college is a fantastic way of building your knowledge, problem-solving abilities and gaining relevant experience in your field, the many connections you will make on campus are a silver lining of realizing your career goals.

As a mother, establishing the requisite business connections and intellectual discourse can be a tough thing to do on your own. A college campus is a breeding ground for new ideas and passions, and you may just find a group of people whose beliefs align with yours.

Once you've successfully received a few college scholarships and grants for parents and made your way on campus, be sure to befriend your professors. These individuals have invaluable knowledge and real-world experience. They can direct you to the appropriate channels to find a job, or give some helpful tips on how to start a business in a tough economic climate.

Heading back to college to receive your degree is a huge step in anyone's life, but the lifelong friendships and knowledge that you can gain from the people you meet may be even more beneficial than what you learn in the classroom.
