Maintaining your family life while completing your degree

September 8, 2011

Being there for your family is one of the biggest hurdles you'll have to clear when deciding whether or not to head to school to get your degree. As a mother, you may think that you're doing them a disservice by not being around, but there are many ways that you can play an active role in your children's lives while still furthering your career.

Merging your schoolwork with family time may seem like a tall order, but there are many ways that you can be there for your kids while still completing your degree. One idea is to combine your child's homework time with your own. While you catch up on your reading or type away on your laptop, you can be there to help out with any of your child's questions.

Now that the academic year is here, you can also plan many of your classes during the day. This will allow you to wake up and get your kids out the door and head off to class yourself.

Being a good mother and completing a degree are not mutually exclusive, and with a bit of hard work you can do both at the same time.
