Survey finds motherhood is ‘complicated’

December 20, 2011

A new study conducted by Ivory confirms how many mothers feel on a daily basis - being a mom is hard!

The survey of 1,000 American moms revealed that 80 percent think motherhood is actually more complicated today than it was 20 years ago. And while they may be more stressed out and busier than ever, almost nine out of 10 moms think they're doing a better job balancing it all than their mothers did.

One finding that will resonate with mothers who are pursuing a college education and balancing the demands of motherhood at the same time is that 30 percent of those surveyed said the most complicated aspect of parenting is finding more "me" time.

How do moms deal with this lack of times for themselves? The survey finds that as many as 66 percent admit to using the bathroom as a "hiding place" to capture some time alone.

Whether you're a working mom, stay-at-home mom or mother who is going to college, it's important to know that others struggle with the same challenges you do on a daily basis.

One positive for student parents is that they can take advantage of single mother scholarships, grants for parents and other financial aid to help offset the cost of their education. No need to hide in the bathroom for that one!
