Celebrities admit to struggling with demands of career, family

Many moms pursuing a college degree are doing so in order to expand their career opportunities and help ensure their families' financial independence.

Grants for parents, college scholarships and other financial aid make it possible for many to afford getting a college education.

But whether they're balancing the demands of raising a family with going to school or trying to perfect the work-life balance after graduating and entering the workforce, they often think that some people - especially celebrities - make it look so easy.

The reality is that some rich and famous people often depend on a staff of employees to help raise their kids and take care of their homes so they can work, travel and do whatever they want. Others, who are doing it like the majority of "regular" working parents out there admit that finding a balance is tough.

Mom and former pop star-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham recently spoke out about how difficult being a working mom can be.

"I'm tired," Beckham recently told The Mirror. "I'm really tired but I'm also very happy with my life. I'm basically just like any woman who's working and has lots of children - it's tough."

After being criticized for looking less-than-perfect in public in recent days, Beckham, who has a 7-month-old daughter, Harper, and three sons, aged 12, 9 and 6, explained that sleep deprivation combined with a busy work schedule has caused her appearance to suffer.

"Harper's not sleeping that great, and I've been taking Skype business calls throughout the night too because of the [fashion] collections," she told the British newspaper. "I'm up with the baby as all mums are and I wouldn't have it any other way. There's not a team of people doing it for me. And then people want to say I look like crap. Well, I'm a working mum, so give me a break."

Actress Rebecca Romijn says she feels guilty that work takes her away from her 3-year-old twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly, as well.

"I don't know if I can ever find that balance," Romijn recently told Parade."I'm still seeking it. It's hard. I had to leave the girls with their grandparents for five days this week and go to New York to do press for the movie and I experienced so much guilt. But I know they're in great hands and I don't have to worry about them."
