Many parents want to continue their education and obtain a master's degree, but it can be difficult to do so while raising children and working a full-time job. As more grants for parents and scholarships for moms become available, nontraditional learning opportunities are growing in popularity, as well.
Recently, Notre Dame de Namur University announced that it will begin offering a new master's degree program online to cater to busy students, according to U.S. News and World Report. The program will be available to students who want to earn a master's degree in computer science in order to expand their education and experience in the field.
"[The] online Master of Science degree in Computer and Information Science shows you how to design software solutions, then guides you as you develop the technical, as well as management skills to put a complex project into practice - the result sought by organizations," John Lemmon, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, told the news source.
Those who held a master's degree in 2011 earned an average of $1,263 weekly, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. With grants and scholarships, more moms are enrolling in accredited online schools to advance their careers.
