Reach out to family and friends for help before you head to college
September 12, 2011
Motherhood is a 24/7 job, but making a better life for your family starts by earning a degree and getting established in a field that can change their lives for the better. Your family and friends are some of the best resources when you're headed off to school, and you can lean on them as you ease into your college schedule.
You don't want to place an extra burden on your children as you try and catch up on household matters, so plan your schedule around one day a week to be the time you need to get some chores done around the house and prepare some meals in advance.
Day care is an option if you have really young children that will allow you to plan a school-intensive schedule during the day while being available for family time and at night. This may not be the preferred scenario, but there will have to be some sacrifices to build a better life for you and your family.
Once you've researched college scholarships and other forms of college funding, finding the perfect family and academic balance is essential to completing your degree program and being there for your kids.
