Pursuing new interests by going back to school
September 6, 2011
Now that you've sent your last child off to college, you likely have time to head back to school yourself. If you decided to end your budding career to stay home and raise your kids, consider rejoining the workforce in a new industry.
You may not be in your 20s anymore, and your interests have likely changed over the years. Take this opportunity to invest in yourself and pursue new interests. Don't let the sticker price of a college education intimidate you - there are numerous scholarships for mothers and grants for parents that can reduce the amount you have to pay.
Before securing financing for your education, consider what degree programs interest you. Reflect on the skills you've developed while your kids were still at home. Perhaps you've enjoyed leading parent-teacher associations over the years - you could utilize those skills in a business management program. Research prospective schools to find the right campus for you, and get started on earning your diploma.
