Managing the time and expenses related to a college education

September 9, 2011

As a single mother working multiple jobs to support your family, you may have let the idea of going back to school slip from your mind long ago. However, investing in your education can help you land a more stable position that will provide greater benefits for you and your children.

For many, the main barriers to a higher education are time and money. Luckily, with the large numbers of single mother scholarships and financial aid for moms, you can subsidize the entire cost. It does take time to hunt for available opportunities and applications must be filled out, but it's worth the effort to receive free instruction.

To help manage the time that must be devoted to class, consider pursuing your education online or through night courses that are held after the workday is over. This allows you to keep your current job as you get ready to transition into a better one.

A bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for most of the coveted positions out there, and you want to secure the highest degree possible to increase your chances of getting hired and starting a better life for your family.
