Generous donation helps adults return to school in Missouri
July 24, 2012
A local Springfield, Missouri man is giving back to the city's Drury University through scholarships for those struggling to pay for college.
Stanley Ball recently presented a $50,000 gift for evening school students, as well as a $10,000 donation to scholarships for traditional students.
"Drury works very hard to make college affordable for traditional and nontraditional students," said Aaron Jones, interim dean of the College of Continuing Professional Studies. "Donors like Mr. Ball help to provide a college education to all of our students while ensuring the quality and rigor Drury is known for."
Ball was close to the parents of Todd Parnell, Drury's president, and is also an avid Drury sport's fan.
For those seeking financial assistance in order to pursue higher education, generous gifts from donors closely connected to local schools can be a gateway to affordability. Drury University offers master's, bachelor's and associate degree programs during the evenings at the school's main campus in Springfield, as well as branch campuses throughout southern Missouri. The university offers various grants and scholarships for adults, such as the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Scholarships for students 24 years of age or older.
