Program for adults with Down syndrome aims to expand under new management

A continuing education program for adults with Down syndrome in Colorado is switching hands, but still providing educational opportunities to those with the condition.
Mile High Down Syndrome Association, which has served Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region for 31 years, is taking over the ALIVE! continuing education program, which stands for Ability, Life Skills, Independence, Vitality and Education. When it comes to tracking non-traditional students' success in school, many institutions are lacking vital information. According to a recent survey by the University Professional and Continuing Education Association and Insidetrack, 43 percent of educational institutions polled do not track the retention and degree completion rates for non-traditional students, such as adults returning to school.
