Hagerstown Community College offers more online courses

As the competition for jobs remains steep, more adults are looking to return to college in an effort to improve their chances of finding a high-salary job.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2011, individuals with a high school diploma made an average of $638 per week. This is a notable difference compared to the $1,053 that bachelor's degree holders made on average weekly.

One option for moms who want to earn an education while taking care of their families is online courses. This gives individuals the schedule flexibility they need to obtain a degree while fulfilling their personal obligations.

Recently, Hagerstown Community College announced that it will continue to increase the number of online courses it provides to individuals to support nontraditional students, according to The Northwestern. The school also now has approval to host some associate degree programs completely online, which may be of benefit to busy working parents.

This is just one of many schools attempting to cater to adults seeking a higher education. Grants for parents and scholarships for mothers are continuing to help individuals enroll in accredited online college degree programs as well.
