Keeping gas costs low as you commute to and from campus
August 20, 2012
If you've recently taken advantage of grants for parents and scholarships for moms to cover the cost of earning a college degree, you might be relieved of some of your financial stress. However, there are still certain out of pocket expenses that you'll have to take care of on a regular basis, one of which may be fuel.
Assuming you're a commuter student, you'll need to think about ways that you can reduce your transportation costs as you travel to and from campus. Luckily, there are a few ways that you can control your spending on fuel.
The Huffington Post recommends using the lowest octane of fuel possible while you're filling up at the pump. Doing so can keep your car operating smoothly at a fraction of the cost.
Be mindful of the different stations on the route your frequent. Knowing where to get the cheapest gas can help you avoid spending more than you have to.
Finally, make an effort to use public transportation if it's available to you. If there is a bus line or a subway train you can take to and from campus, you won't have to worry about breaking the bank on gasoline.
