Investing the time to research grants
August 12, 2011
Unless you have money stored away that can cover the cost of a degree program, most mothers who are trying to go back to school will have to invest time to find college scholarships and grants that can work for them. Money shouldn't hold you back from going to complete your degree, but understand that you will need to work on finding financial assistance.
While many people look to the Pell Grant as a means of funding for their schooling, the options don't end there. There are also merit awards, which are grants that fund individuals in certain majors, which can be located after a thorough search.
Writing countless grant applications and trying to communicate your worth to a specific organization can feel very repetitive. It's important to give yourself a month or two to spend your evenings searching for financial aid after you make the decision to return to school. There's nothing stopping you from going to college, but you will have to work to make it a reality.
