A GRE prep course will get you back into the academic environment

September 13, 2011

For mothers who are thinking of heading back to school to pursue a graduate degree, there is a long list of preparations you need to make before you take the plunge. Looking into college scholarships and federal grants is a huge step, but taking the GRE is something that every prospective graduate student will need to complete.

The GRE is split into three sections - verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing. While you could simply go out and invest in a study booklet, getting back into the classroom with a GRE prep course could help you get accustomed to an academic environment again.

People who have been out of college for a few years may be a bit rusty with calculus and may need to brush up on constructing an essay or their vocabulary. A GRE prep course will cover the materials that will be on the test and use sample questions that can help you understand the format before you take it.

A prep course could be the ideal way for mothers to help improve their scores on the GRE and consequently improve their chances of being accepted to the college of their choice.
