Nationwide scholarship winners announced for online school

July 31, 2012

Ashworth College, a leading online school offering a variety of degrees, certificate programs and career training, has recently announced the winners of its 2012 ACCESS Scholarship.

The Ashworth College Continuing Education for Student Success scholarship program offers awards with a combined value of $25,000 annually to prospective students.

Glendora Bention, one lucky recipient from North Carolina, recently completed her Associates in Business Management through the online school and will now enter the bachelor's degree program.

"One reason why receiving an ACCESS Scholarship has been so important for me is that I have learned the value of having a variety of tools in my 'work life' arsenal," Bention said. "When I was laid off, I noticed that in spite of 24 years of work experience many employers were still looking for a bachelor's degree. I didn't want to get passed over because of shortfall in my education experience."

Another recipient, Tawana Donelly, is a single mother who will pursue a marketing communications career diploma program. Although the ACCESS program does not give scholarships to single parents exclusively, financial need is a contributing factor in the decision-making process.
